Audition Notice
SEEKING YOUTH PERFORMERS AGES 17 AND YOUNGER
Saguaro City Music Theatre is seeking talented young singers, actors, and dancers for its upcoming productions of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAM COAT and DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID.
Youth performers may be considered for the roles of Ariel, Prince Eric, Flounder, Scuttle, Flotsam and Jetsam, the Mersisters, and the Youth Ensemble.
These audition calls are exclusively for performers ages 17 and younger.
Our Season auditions for adults we held back in May and we will conclude our casting from those submissions.
Production Dates
For DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID
First Youth Rehearsal: On or about November 10th, 2026
Opens: December 19th, 2026
Closing: January 3rd, 2027
For JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT
First Youth Rehearsal: On or about February 16th, 2027
Opens: March 13th, 2027
Closing: March 27th, 2027

Bring

A hard copy of your headshot and resume, stapled together

Please arrive early to sign in before your scheduled audition time
Prepare
Auditions will begin with a dance/movement call, followed by singing in the order you sign in.
Please:

Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for dance/movement

Prepare music and sides for the character you most connect with or wish to be considered for

Wear non-marking shoes, no sandals or crocs
An accompanist will be provided.
You may be asked to perform one song and/or one side.
Please note for JOSEPH... we are only seeking Youth performers for the Youth Ensemble. All other roles will be played by adults.
If you are only interested in an youth ensemble role in either production, please prepare a short song selection of your choice.
An accompanist will be provided. Please bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key, secured in a three-ring binder.
A speaker will also be available for performers using an accompaniment track. Please bring the appropriate adapter or dongle needed to connect your device.
Please arrive before your audition slot to sign in and please bring a hard copy of your picture and resume stapled together.
Character Descriptions
For DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID
Ariel (Must be able to believably portray 18 years or older): Naive but kind mermaid who longs to be human; King Triton’s youngest daughter. Must have an extremely strong singing voice.
Prince Eric (Must be able to believably portray 18 years or older): Adventurous prince who captures Ariel’s heart. A strong singing voice is required.
Flounder: A fish; Ariel’s spunky and loyal best friend. Must sing well. (YOUTH ACTOR)
Scuttle: Know-it-all, singing and dancing seagull who is an “expert” in human artifacts.
Mersisters (Must be able to believably portray 18 years or older): Ariel’s sisters and daughters of King Triton; each has her own distinct personality. All must sing well.
Flotsam & Jetsam: Sinister and sneaky eels that serve as Ursula’s lackeys (POSSIBLE YOUTH ACTORS)
Ensemble (Ages 9-17): To play sailors, sea creatures, seagulls, maids, chefs, and townspeople.

Youth Ensemble (Ages 9-17)
The Youth Ensemble will serve as an essential part of the production’s storytelling and musical world. Seeking enthusiastic young performers who are comfortable singing, moving, acting, and working collaboratively as part of an ensemble.
Please note that in this production all roles will be played by adults except for the youth ensemble.
